The Manufacturing Process Behind ZT's Legendary Quality

Zero Tolerance Knives is a USA Made brand known for its precision, durability, and use of high quality premium materials to make bold, heavy use folders and fixed blades for military, first responders, law enforcement, firefighters, and more. In order to make such high quality knives the first step is the Zero Tolerance Knives manufacturing process, it must be a precise, thorough, dependable, & accurate process to meet the strict quality control and assurance that ZT knife users have come to expect.

In this article we are going to be going over the Zero Tolerance Knives manufacturing process from the beginning stages of design all the way to the end user. To learn more about the history of Zero Tolerance knives please see our other blog articles.

Why you can trust us:

  • We are authorized Zero Tolerance knives dealers since 2016.

  • We've fulfilled hundreds and hundreds of ZT knife orders.

  • We are at the forefront of the knife industry and follow closely what every manufacturer is doing.

Step by Step Zero Tolerance Knives Manufacturing Process

  1. The first step in the Zero Tolerance Knives manufacturing process is market research. What does our end users want? What do they need? Where is there a gap in the market? These questions are gone over and research with some of the best award winning knife designers in the industry to create what will be the next ZT knife in the lineup.
  2. The next step is to take all of the designs and instructions from the designers and configure them into the computer programs which will be used to CNC every single part from blade to screws in the Zero Tolerance Knives manufacturing process.
  3. Now expert machinists will create around 12 prototypes by hand. Based off the experience when creating the knife feedback is giving to the designers and engineers to modify any design elements in the Zero Tolerance Knives manufacturing process.
  4. Next up after creating and refining the prototypes is getting everything setup for mass production. Each design and configuration is translated to production ready machinery ready to produce up to 100,000 knives per month.
  5. Fixtures for holding the individual pieces in the machinery are designed and programmed to allow for the most efficient product process.
  6. At this point production is started and every part needed is manufactured with strict quality control standards and assembled with final inspection.
  7. After the Zero Tolerance Knives manufacturing process is completed and everything is inspected, these knives are shipped out to the end users and authorized retailers throughout the US and the world. Each one backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Limited Lifetime Warranty

When properly used and maintained ZT knives carry a limited lifetime warranty for the original owner. The fact that they can offer a lifetime warranty is a testament to how precise and premium the Zero Tolerance knives manufacturing process is. All you have to do is send your knife to the Zero Tolerance warehouse in Tualatin, OR to be inspected and evaluation.

Quality Control & Final Inspection

Zero Tolerance has around 400 employees that work in their warehouse during the Zero Tolerance knives manufacturing process. That is one of the main reasons that the quality of ZT knives is so much better than other brands. The quality control and inspection process added on top of the best in the industry machine workers means each and every ZT that leaves their Tualatin, OR facility is built with precision and care.
