Its slim profile combines classic styling with premium modern materials, including a CPM S30V stainless steel blade, solid carbon fiber scales, and Spyderco’s Compression Lock. Phillips originally developed the design as a personal carry knife for food preparation, which helps explain the Kapara’s long, slender blade and highly efficient cutting geometry.
The 3.58-inch CPM S30V blade has a satin finish and full-flat grind, producing a thin, efficient cutting profile suited to everyday utility, food preparation, and general EDC tasks. Spyderco’s Trademark Round Hole provides convenient one-handed opening, while an index-finger choil allows the grip to move forward for additional control during detailed cutting.
The handle features beautifully contoured solid carbon fiber scales supported by full, skeletonized stainless steel liners. A contrasting red G-10 backspacer pays tribute to the Australian redback spider that inspired the original design.
